The year 5/6 children were amazing searching for and identifying all different types of flora and fauna in our forest school area today.

We have been using the traditional Japanese technique to transfer natural objects on to paper using a hammer.

As part of our Science topic, Kingfishers have been exploring how plants grow and the process of transporting water. We looked at an awesome experiment where colour was added to the water and as the water was transported up the plant it transported the colour to the petals of the flower. Will our experiment work? Cast your vote, yes or no?

The Year 4 children found lots of interesting bugs in our area today.

Looking for bugs and wildlife.

The children showed resilience in keeping their tent pegs in the ground today. Substituting pots and pans for hammers to secure them into the ground. We also found a snail and made him a nice home.

Using a flint and steel to make a fairy fire and making nature bracelets.

Y4 explored how suitable our local environment was for living things such and plants and animals. We looked at many detrimental factors such as pollution, litter and large built up areas. We then looked at ways we can support and protect our wildlife and plants, take a look at their fantastic eye catching ideas. Hopefully the posters will promote our school community to care for the local living environment.

Year 1 have been looking at animal groups.

Year 5/6

We have 3 ducklings so far and some of the children have witnessed them hatching. They are so cute.

We are so excited in EYFS to have duck eggs. We are patiently waiting for them to hatch.

After conducting a scientific experiment for our topic of ‘States of Matter’ the water cup that evaporated the most was… (drum roll please). The cup next to the radiation! Ask your child why this happened, they might even sing you the song all about the water cycle.

As part of our science topic of states of matter we are conducting an experiment. The children have each made a prediction on which cup of water they think will evaporate the most due to the conditions of where they are placed; in the window, in the cupboard and on the radiator. What do you predict?

Y4 are exploring states of matter in science, this week learnt about solids, liquids and gasses how to organise these into categories.
