Year 5/6

We have 3 ducklings so far and some of the children have witnessed them hatching. They are so cute.

We are so excited in EYFS to have duck eggs. We are patiently waiting for them to hatch.

After conducting a scientific experiment for our topic of ‘States of Matter’ the water cup that evaporated the most was… (drum roll please). The cup next to the radiation! Ask your child why this happened, they might even sing you the song all about the water cycle.

As part of our science topic of states of matter we are conducting an experiment. The children have each made a prediction on which cup of water they think will evaporate the most due to the conditions of where they are placed; in the window, in the cupboard and on the radiator. What do you predict?

Y4 are exploring states of matter in science, this week learnt about solids, liquids and gasses how to organise these into categories.

The children were excited to join the components to make working circuits, I think we have some budding electricians among the class. We think its beginning to look a lot like Christmas….. maybe we could build our own Christmas tree lights!

Today the children explored circuits using components, the children displayed high levels of resilience to get their bulbs working. Some children linked more components into their circuits to explore what would happen and how things work. The buzz in the classroom was electrifying!

As part of our year 4 science unit ‘Electricity’ we have been identifying, grouping and classifying electrical and non-electrical items, using our teamwork skills.

Today, years 1 and 2 have learnt the importance of hand hygiene using an experiment

Today Y2 have been learning about the different food groups. We have sorted some food into the different categories 🍗🍓🍍🍞

Today we learnt about our 5 senses. We experimented which each one too! 👃👅👀👋👂

The children have enjoyed planting some flowers and watering them.

Our butterfly life cycle is complete.

Today, we have been doing our own scientific research into what animals eat 🧐🐰🐮🦁
