Year 5/6

We used mud and paint mixed together to create traditional African Mud Paintings.

During our visit to forest school the children helped to take care of the wildlife making bird feeders from twigs, cheerios and string.

We made good use of the mud at forest school today.

Year 5/6 used the axe and mallet safely to chop some fire wood.

We have made some delicious pancakes on the fire. The children loved the experience of cooking outside on an open fire. Learning the rules of how to stay safe round the fire pit.

Year 3 children have been thinking about the bird’s at this time of year. They have made bird feeders from sticks, Cheerios and string. The boys also enjoyed searching for different types of insects.

The children have used mud to paint Chinese symbols on red paper and hung them from the trees to create a Chinese Wishing Tree.

The children have been looking for signs of winter in Forest school.

Trying toffee apples by the fire. It was so cold we even found ice.

The year 4 children enjoyed sitting round the fire and tasted some toffee apples cooked on the fire pit.

What to do on a cold day at forest school? Make hot chocolate! We also had our chapati’s from our book The Runaway Chapati over the fire.

We spoke about how we keep safe on bonfire night as we sat round the fire pit. The children then went and made their own sparklers using sticks and leafs before enjoying a toasted marshmallow.

We spoke about fire safety and the children harvested the apples to make a delicious treat.

We have looked at the importance of fire safety and then cooked some of our apples on the fire.

We made toffee apples at forest school this week. #proudtobemvp

This week the Year 5/6 children worked hard with their knot skills and successfully made a tight line that they could walk over. They also had some fun on the tree swing and harvested some juicy apples.
