As part of our notation unit in music the children have been playing notes on the glockenspiel. The children have really enjoyed experimenting with high, medium and low notes.

The Y4 Kingfishers class enjoyed their extra playtime for winning first place in this weeks attendance, with a score of 97.42%! Keep it up.

This week we put on our Geographical detective hats, we identified and classified human and physical features of some beautiful places in the Mediterranean. Fun fact… The Mediterranean includes over 20 countries! Some human features are: hotels, houses and restaurants. Some physical features are the beach, trees and the warm weather. We them had a lot of fun using the vocabulary to discuss our findings scoring points for the vocabulary we used.

During our visit to forest school the children helped to take care of the wildlife making bird feeders from twigs, cheerios and string.

After researching and planning to market pizzas, it was time to put our plans into action. The children worked collaboratively to make the dough and then make individual pizzas. They were amazing! Following the recipe, measuring ingredients, mixing, kneading, decorating and obviously tasting their yummy creations. Take a look at our cooking process, a very important part of this was safety, you will see the children using either a claw hold or a bridge hold to chop ingredient

After conducting a scientific experiment for our topic of ‘States of Matter’ the water cup that evaporated the most was… (drum roll please). The cup next to the radiation! Ask your child why this happened, they might even sing you the song all about the water cycle.

The children have been developing gymnastic routines, as you can see they are aiming high, working as a team to polish their performances.

As part of our science topic of states of matter we are conducting an experiment. The children have each made a prediction on which cup of water they think will evaporate the most due to the conditions of where they are placed; in the window, in the cupboard and on the radiator. What do you predict?

After a discussion in RE about the values of Christian beliefs, we thought about our own values and beliefs. The children wanted to share their thoughts and beliefs, we have some wonderful values that are reflected though the children’s actions.

As part of our DT unit we are designing pizza’s to market. After some research, the children have created a mood board of ideas in groups. Look at the ideas, I can’t wait to see these develop into designs and a finished product.

Y4 are designing and marketing pizzas, as part of our market research we had a taste testing session. The children explored the taste, smell, appearance and texture of the pizzas for ideas of how to design the best pizza to market. The children thoroughly enjoyed some colourful, cheesy, doughy, crunchy pizzas 🍕

Y4 are exploring states of matter in science, this week learnt about solids, liquids and gasses how to organise these into categories.

Y4 are using the micro bits to programme and collect data, this week the children explored how to carefully attach the micro bit to the laptop and access the programming site. We are very excited to explore all the things a micro bit can do…. They are amazing, wait and see!

During PE we are learning how to use apparatus in gymnastics, we have started with safe use of the equipment focusing on bending at the knees, this was a great example when a beam jump was done and bent knees were used on landing. Just look at that balance!

The children were given a 4 seasons tree calendar to create and represent trees that would show the 4 seasons of 2026. The children used watercolour paints and devised their own techniques to artistically decorate them. They look absolutely amazing.

We have had a visitor with gifts. The children were so excited to join in with Christmas celebrations and very thankful for the gifts from Santa. Merry Christmas everyone.

Our class elf apparently set the class a mission, a blank piece of paper was left in a envelope in the class for the children. The children said this had ‘invisible ink’ on that only children could read and gave the children a mission to do. The children said they had to get me to say 3 words… Christmas tree, elf and Santa. After completing the mission the elf left a ‘mission complete’ note and a chocolate for everyone. The children worked amazingly as a class to read the let

The children have been working incredibly hard to write poetry stanzas using metaphors. They chose a Christmas theme and used feelings, adjectives, animals and places to write metaphors. Some children performed some of their poetry and wow….. look at the actions to support their performance! Y4 you are a group of magical elves gliding over the glossy ice on sharp skates through your learning.
