A huge well done
A big congratulations to two of our classmates who went above and beyond during a school football match. Their great efforts didn’t go unnoticed and they were awarded certificates for being inspiring and being fair. Kingfishers gave them a round of applause for their fantastic efforts.

Living things in our local environment; let’s keep them safe and growing!
Y4 explored how suitable our local environment was for living things such and plants and animals. We looked at many detrimental factors such as pollution, litter and large built up areas. We then looked at ways we can support and protect our wildlife and plants, take a look at their fantastic eye catching ideas. Hopefully the posters will promote our school community to care for the local living environment.

Codes for living
As part of our RE learning children have been looking at different faiths and beliefs and how this shapes individuals codes for living. After a class discussion the children shared and agreed upon some class codes for living. We listed codes to follow and not to follow, take a look- they really reflect the good values the children have.

Gods Eye Crafting
During our visit to forest school the children had the oppertunity to craft a gods eye using some natural materials. These are very colourful and eye catching, do you agree?

Jason Thomson Sculptures
The children had a fantastic and fun art experience with sculpture artist Jason. They got some inspiration, top tips and hands on experience with sculpting. The chikdren had some amazing, creative ideas that Jason added to his plans to create a sculpture for Kimberworth!

Narrative writing
The children have been looking at a the story ‘Where the wild things are’. They have looked at the structure of the story using a story mountain. We are now exploring the vocabulary and how we can adapt the story using our creative minds and more ambitious vocabulary to describe characters and settings. We can’t wait to start re writing the story with all our ideas!

Human and Physical Geographical features of the Mediterranean
This week we put on our Geographical detective hats, we identified and classified human and physical features of some beautiful places in the Mediterranean. Fun fact… The Mediterranean includes over 20 countries! Some human features are: hotels, houses and restaurants. Some physical features are the beach, trees and the warm weather. We them had a lot of fun using the vocabulary to discuss our findings scoring points for the vocabulary we used.

During our visit to forest school the children helped to take care of the wildlife making bird feeders from twigs, cheerios and string.

Pizza production
After researching and planning to market pizzas, it was time to put our plans into action. The children worked collaboratively to make the dough and then make individual pizzas. They were amazing! Following the recipe, measuring ingredients, mixing, kneading, decorating and obviously tasting their yummy creations. Take a look at our cooking process, a very important part of this was safety, you will see the children using either a claw hold or a bridge hold to chop ingredient

Experiment results…
After conducting a scientific experiment for our topic of ‘States of Matter’ the water cup that evaporated the most was… (drum roll please). The cup next to the radiation! Ask your child why this happened, they might even sing you the song all about the water cycle.

As part of our science topic of states of matter we are conducting an experiment. The children have each made a prediction on which cup of water they think will evaporate the most due to the conditions of where they are placed; in the window, in the cupboard and on the radiator. RE our values
After a discussion in RE about the values of Christian beliefs, we thought about our own values and beliefs. The children wanted to share their thoughts and beliefs, we have some wonderful values that are reflected though the children’s actions.

Market research
Y4 are designing and marketing pizzas, as part of our market research we had a taste testing session. The children explored the taste, smell, appearance and texture of the pizzas for ideas of how to design the best pizza to market.
